With a burning desire and anointing to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ, Pastor John H. Young, Sr. has ministered through music, spoken word, and media ministry for over 30 years.
John H. Young, Sr. was born August 20, 1965 to the late Rev. Guy J. Graves and Marion Y. Young. He accepted Jesus Christ at the age of 7 years old and was an active member of the Antioch Baptist Church. At age 11, Rev. Young became the organist of Antioch Baptist Church, Buffalo NY, which birthed ministry through this earthen vessel. Gifted to play 4 musical instruments, a vocalist, and the ability to teach harmonies, instrumentation, and worship applications Pastor Young served as Minister of Music for various churches in Buffalo, NY and Pontiac, Michigan including the Friendship Baptist Church - Buffalo, Mount Olive Baptist Church - Lackawanna, and Monument of Faith Baptist Church, Pontiac, Michigan.
At the age of 15, Young accepted the call to preach the Gospel and was licensed to preach on September 30, 1981 by the Rev. William A. Bunton, Sr. Rev. Young spread the Gospel of Jesus through revivals and workshops, speaking to young people throughout Pennsylvania and Ohio. In June of 1986 Ministerial Council ordained him at the Open Door Baptist Church, Buffalo, NY.
Rev. Young has served as Acting Pastor of the Unity Baptist Church, Buffalo, NY; as Pastor of the Monument of Faith Baptist Church, Buffalo, NY, and the United Church of Faith Interdenominational, Buffalo, NY. He also produced a weekly gospel television show, which aired on 2 local television stations, and produced a monthly newsletter.
In January 2001, Rev. Young founded the Fellowship Christian Center, a center and community of spiritual growth where positive attitudes are developed, and where Good People... Become Better. Under his leadership, the congregation recently acquired a 19,500 square feet worship center. The non-denominational, multicultural church ministers daily through worship services, spiritual and social orientated classes, food and clothing outreaches, and community events. The facility houses a banquet facility, recording studio, bookstore, and creative childrens center, radio station, and exercise gym. The Ministry has also hosted Tele-Evangelist Rod Parsley, National recording artists John P. Kee & the New Life Community Choir, Hezikiah Walker & Love Fellowship Choir, Slim & The Supreme Angels, The Jackson Southernairs, and The Christianaires were just a few of the many guests that have visited the ministry.
Pastor Young is also President and CEO of Brandi Communications, which produces urban Christian radio content. Totally Gospel based in Buffalo, NY began as a 4-hour weekly radio show broadcasting at 148 watts on WHLD-AM 1270 in 1991. The show gained popularity and in 1997 became Western New York's first full time gospel radio station. AM 1120 TOTALLY GOSPEL (formerly WHTT-AM & WMNY-AM, now WBBF-AM 1120 owned by Citadel Communications). Pastor Young also launched the Totally Gospel Cable Radio Network, which was the only urban Christian radio station on Dominion SkyAngel Channel serving the 48 continental United States with the best in Urban Christian Music and Ministries 24 hours a day / 7 Days a week and Adelphia cable company in Buffalo. Pastor Young now has become a pioneer with the first and only gospel radio station in Minnesota - Totally Gospel Radio Networks - KZTG-AM 1470 - Brooklyn Park, MN.
Rev. Young is married to the former Paula M. Graham, and is the father of 7 children: Rayshawn, John Jr., Larry, Brandi, Terrell, DeJon & Torrie.
